Starhawk

Vulcan

Vulcan, although a strictly all-reprint title has attained near grail-like proportions in the lore of comics history and is worshipped with quite reverence by the adoring mass of comics collectors worldwide!Would love to see a tribute site to this comic on the Internet-any takers?

Vulcan can be roughly divided into three phases-The Scottish Editions,The National Editions and The Valiant Mini-Comic pull-out sections.Plus the Summer Special and the Annual. Also it had a clone in Germany called Kobra which apparently had a premature death leaving many fans hanging in the balance as to what happened in the strips!

See the thumbnails below for my very limited info on this great comic which introduced a whole new generation of kids back in the 70's to the heroes of the 60's culled from Lion,Valiant et al!

"The Scottish edition of Vulcan was the first to appear on March 1st 1975 and ran for 30 unnumbered issues before it was published nationwide on September 27th of that year.

The national edition ran for 28 issues before joining Valiant on April 10th 1976.

Each edition of Vulcan had 3 full colour comic strips plus a number of black and white."

The NATIONAL EDITIONS

Vulcan went national on the 27th September 1975.Even though it was Number 1 in the U.K. and Eire,it was Number 31 in Scotland.I will show the two issues to compare in the future, with Scotland scrubbing the reference to Number 1.Thanks to Rod from ComicsUK for the thumbnails.I have included the dates and the numbers of the issues as they really were.
